Facebook news from across the web

Date:
Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - 6:30pm - 9:15pm

Our next regular event in 2012 takes place on Wednesday 21st March, back at our regular venue in the Freemasons' Hall (close to Holborn, Covent Garden, Tottenham Court Road and Temple stations).

Roger Warner, Chairman at the DMA UK Social Media Council, will be telling us what social media can learn from Mad Men, and we'll also hear from Caroline Howes, Chief Operations Office at Playmob, on how social games can engage players with premium content. As usual, Iskandar Najmuddin from Syncapse will get us up to date with the latest Facebook platform updates since our last event in February.

Freelance developer and our secretary Dave Nattriss will cover the hottest apps and pages on Facebook, and starting everything off, FDGL Chairman and host for the evening Todd Chaffee will give us a quick update on general Facebook news.

We’ll have our new ‘show and share’ section later on where you can give a quick talk/demo about whatever you’ve been working on - just sign up on the board at the front of the talk room to share anything Facebook or social media related with the audience. You can talk for up to two minutes, and can show slides from your computer if you’ve got a VGA connection, or use a browser on ours.

Our events often sell out within days, so be quick to buy your ticket(s). We'll have beer, wine, juice and pizza, possibly some Facebook swag, and will go for after-drinks at O'Neills across the road for those that want to wind down afterwards.

Tickets are available at http://fdglmarch2012-websiteeventdescription.eventbrite.co.uk - you must buy in advance to guarantee entry on the night. Earlybird tickets are available until Friday before the event, subject to quota.

If you miss out on or can't make this one, we look forward to seeing you at our next event, due to take place on Thursday 10th May 2012.

As always we are grateful for the sponsorship of our events - thanks to our regular sponsors Gamaroff Digital, and our media partner Keyone Productions. If your organisation is interested in sponsoring us, please e-mail for more information.

Freemasons’ Hall is the headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England and the principal meeting place for Masonic Lodges in London. Grand Lodge has been in Great Queen Street since 1775, the present Hall being the third building on the site.

Built between 1927–1932 as a memorial to the Freemasons who died in the First World War, it is one of the finest Art Deco buildings in England, and is now Grade II* listed internally and externally. In addition to the Grand Temple (seating 1700) there are 21 Lodge Rooms, a Library and Museum, Board and Committee Rooms and administrative offices. The building is fully open to the public.

Lodge Room 1 can be found by following the main central corridor from the main reception until the end, and it is on the left past the lifts.

Great post full of useful tips! My site is fairly new and I am also having a hard time getting my readers to leave comments. Analytics shows they are coming to the site but I have a feeling “nobody wants to be first”.
