We're pleased to announce our next regular event, taking place on Wednesday 20th July, at our regular venue in the Freemasons' Hall (close to Holborn, Covent Garden, Tottenham Court Road and Temple stations). For July only, the route into Lodge Room 1 will be different, so look out for signs on your way into the building.

The theme for this month is entrepreneurship and starting up, and confirmed speakers are Jakub Nesetril, co-founder of API services company apiary.io, with his start-up accelerator survival guide, Sam Clark, head of apps agency Conjure, covering lessons learnt from building branded apps, and John Haggis from Sheridan Solicitors telling us how lawyers can help set up your company and ensure your app is legal. Simon Cross, a plaform partner engineer at Facebook, will also tell us about cross-platform authentication.

Accel Partners, the venture capital firm behind companies like Facebook, MindCandy, Rovio and Kayak, will be hosting Office Hours at this month's event. Office Hours gives entrepreneurs/developers/technology evangelists the chance to ask Accel personnel relevant questions, ranging from getting feedback on an idea to general business/market advice. Freemasons’ Hall is the headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England and the principal meeting place for Masonic Lodges in London. Grand Lodge has been in Great Queen Street since 1775, the present Hall being the third building on the site.

Built between 1927–1932 as a memorial to the Freemasons who died in the First World War, it is one of the finest Art Deco buildings in England, and is now Grade II* listed internally and externally. In addition to the Grand Temple (seating 1700) there are 21 Lodge Rooms, a Library and Museum, Board and Committee Rooms and administrative offices. The building is fully open to the public.

Lodge Room 1 can be found by following the main central corridor from the main reception until the end, and it is on the left past the lifts.

Right now, I'm using Schweser for L1 in June. When comparing it to the CFAI texts, Schweser leaves plenty out. Depending on your college background with finance it shouldn't be a big deal, becuase all the pertinant info for the exam (IFRS vs GAAP rules...) are still covered in the notes. But it does seem a little vaugue.
