Geoff is our Treasurer. He's responsible for financing each of our events, which would not be possible without the long term support of our awesome sponsors. Geoff joined the committee in October 2007 shortly after the Facebook Platform was launched. He designed and created the first eCommerce application on Facebook and has advised some of the world's biggest brands on their approach to social commerce, a.k.a. 'f-commerce'. Heather is currently researching how knowledge of social network structure can drive application and content optimisation. Heather has been actively involved with the forefront of technology research for many decades, first as an academic researcher in natural language processing and electronic document design, and later as widely respected industry analyst. Her Bartle Gamee Type is 'Explorer Socialiser'. She loves data analysis, design research, and making sense out of stuff.

A regular contributor to the London garage over the last few years, John’s specialty is the monetisation of applications. His day job is running the Adknowledge Social Games division in Europe which encompasses the Super Rewards Virtual Currency and Mobile Platforms, as well as Cubics, Adknowledge’s cloud-based adserving platform for display & video advertising inside social games & MMO's.

As well as being a contributor to the Facebook Developer Garage, he is also currently on the DMA's Social Council.

John is a huge Star Wars fan and was previously an officer in the British armed forces for eight years.

Matthew Johnstone

Matthew works on Facebook's Platform Operations team based in Dublin. He's one of the guys who work on the Forums and in Bugzilla trying to deal with the deluge of support requests and bug reports their team deals with on a daily basis. If you've filed a bug in Facebook's Bugzilla instance, or asked a question on the forum, you may already have worked with him.

Myles is the miniclip.com social media expert. He has spent the last two years integrating the Miniclip website with sites such as Facebook, to bring social features to a gaming audience. Myles has worked with the Facebook platform for over two years and thoroughly enjoyed watching The Social Network. He holds a first class Computer Science degree from Kingston University and spent some time studying at the University of North Carolina in the United States.

Nick Jones

Nick Jones currently splits his time between two roles. He is a deputy director in the Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet Office comms directorate where he is responsible for digital communications. He is also director of interactive services at the Central Office of Information, where his team has delivered digital projects for 90 public sector clients. Nick contributes to government guidance and standards on social media and digital engagement. A former Jupiter analyst, he co-founded New Media Age in 1994.

Richard is Commercial Director at specialist customer experience consultancy Foviance and author of ‘Winners and Losers in a Troubled Economy: how to engage customers online for competitive advantage’. He is also Course Director for Social Media at the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Ronan Shields is the mobile editor of New Media Age magazine reporting on the UK digital marketing industry where he has been working since the beginning of last year. Prior to this, he worked as a reporter at both Informa Telecoms & Media and CommsMEA magazine, based in the Middle East, where his research focus was on mobile media usage in emerging markets
